Issue Type: Task Task
Assignee: Rob Cernich
Components: tooling
Created: 22/Jan/13 1:42 PM
Description:

This is a top level task for a usability review of the SwitchYard editor. Subtasks will be created to encompass the review of specific component functionality.

For these reviews, the following should be considered:

  • Wizards
  • Default values - are all fields appropriately defaulted, including context specific defaults (e.g. class name in bean component wizard)?
  • Validation - are all fields appropriately validated (e.g. duplicate service names)?
  • Usability - are controls appropriate?
  • use combos or auto-complete for text fields
  • use selection dialogs whenever appropriate (e.g. class/resource selection)
  • Properties
  • Dirty flag - are updates made even when the content has not changed?
  • Atomicity - are update operations as atomic as possible, for exmaple:
  • Is a property updated after every keystroke?
  • Is it required that a multiple fields be updated simultaneously, but possible to update them individually?
  • Usability - are controls appropriate?
  • use combos or auto-complete for text fields
  • use selection dialogs whenever appropriate (e.g. class/resource selection)
