> Several NoClassDefFoundError errors occur.
> After that, the generated model is reported as being in error. Note, when I import a view from the same database, I do not get this problem. Based on the errors that are reported in the generated model, it seems to be caused by references to foriegn keys and indices, etc.

[JBoss JIRA] Commented: (TEIIDDES-186) NoClassDefFoundError issues when importing JDBC data source
by Barry LaFond (JIRA)
Barry LaFond commented on TEIIDDES-186:
---------------------------------------
I tested with 04/27/2009 Teiid Designer Snapshot and importing from PostgreSQL DB correctly converted the nameInSource=""someName"" to ""someName"" (driver jar = postgresql-8.3-603.jdbc3.jar)
Also imported using postgresql-8.3-604.jdbc4.jar and it was successful too.

[JBoss JIRA] Created: (TEIIDDES-170) Importing valid WSDL file results in error
by Alexander Culum (JIRA)
Importing valid WSDL file results in error
------------------------------------------
Key: TEIIDDES-170
URL: https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/TEIIDDES-170
Project: Teiid Designer
Issue Type: Bug
Components: Import/Export
Affects Versions: 6.0.0
Environment: Windows XP, Eclipse Classic 3.4.2 with Plugins (as described in installation guide)
Reporter: Alexander Culum
Fix For: 6.0.0
Trying to import WSDL file by choosing "import -> WSDL file into Web Service Model". File is in file system (attached).
After a quite long time (depending on file up to 30 Mins, for the sample file 5-10 Mins), this error occurs:
cvc-elt.1: Cannot find the declaration of element 'wsdl:definitions'
However, the file is valid according to XMLSpy, soapUI and other XML/WSDL validating tools.

[JBoss JIRA] Commented: (TEIIDDES-186) NoClassDefFoundError issues when importing JDBC data source
by Barry LaFond (JIRA)
Barry LaFond commented on TEIIDDES-186:
---------------------------------------
The resulting XMI file contains namespace attribute values with multiple double quotes, which the SAX Parser can't handle. We apparently aren't handling this case in our Import framework.
Example: nameInSource=""public""
Also, a couple of defaultValues include complex strings (Example: "nextval('"ACCT_Account_ID_seq"'::regclass)") which is also causing problems.
If I remove the extra d-quotes and remove the offending default values, the model displays OK.

[JBoss JIRA] Work started: (TEIIDDES-182) Salesforce Importer should retrieve the Distinct Value Count for each column when creating the models, in order to improve cost-based query optimization

> The importer brings in table cardinality, but for even better query optimization, we should also bring in distinct value count, or provide an option to do so.
> This may be a larger one-time cost during import, but it's well worth it, and definitely is faster than doing it by hand for every column in every object in SFDC. It greatly impacts performance, especially for dependent join scenarios, since many SFDC columns/fields happen to have very low distinct value counts.
