Mark Drilling commented on TEIIDDES-1216:
-----------------------------------------
Added a UI mockup concept for an 'Easy Edit' panel, for creating/editing views.
The intent is to capture the simple SELECT and SELECT join cases, without exposing the
entire SQL transformation to the user.
- User can Add/Remove sources that they want to use in their view on the RH side.
- user can choose two tables in the source view, and create a JOIN criteria between them
if desired. Join criteria is displayed under the sources table
- Add/Remove target View columns on the LH side. Only columns from the RH side sources
are available.
- Click in the 'Source Detail' cell (or button) to bring up a dialog similar to /
based on expression builder. User can choose a source column, or use a function. And
specify an alias.
- Saving the panel contents would save the SQL for the view. The user could then open the
transformation editor if they wanted more complex SQL or wanted to edit the SQL
themselves.
- If an existing, complex SQL cannot be parsed/displayed by the EasyEdit panel - it could
be disabled with a message "Sorry, easy edit is not available due to the complexity
of the transformation"

In our push to improve usability, a new "Create View Table" wizard could
provide a new means to create views using the Join or Union concept.
Result of the wizard would be a complete, valid SQL transformation that is reconciled,
use "functions" in Symbol definition and include Criteria
