> For source models, the Modeling action now contains a number of connection or translator related actions that really don't have anything to do with modeling.
> * Create a *Connection* menu group and place below *Modeling* group
> * Move the following actions to the *Connection* group
> ** Create Data Source
> ** Edit Translator Overrides
> ** Remove Connection Info
> ** Set Connection Profile
> ** Set Translator Name
> ** View Connection Profile Info
> * Maybe group these into Translator/Profile actions with separators

[JBoss JIRA] (TEIIDDES-1119) Need for global workspace location

> With 7.6 Teiid Designer will be managing a new Model Extension framework which allows users to define Model Extension Definitions (MEDs) to inject additional properties into relational, web services, XML document and function models.
> Initial design is to maintain a registry or both built-in and user-defined MED's within the user's workspace/.metadata/org.teiid.designer.extension folder.
> Designer is also maintaining a similar Teiid Server registry in workspace/.metadata/org.teiid.designer.dqp
> The "Import VDB" feature will probably need a place to store a registry of "Translator Overrides" so user can re-use these across VDB's rather than re-inputing these properties manually each time in their VDB editors.
> The Data Tools Connection profile registry is also stored in a workspace/.metadata/org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity folder. Data Tool provides input/export features for persisting portions or all of the profile registry across workspace, but requires user to import/export each time.
> Eclipse's ".metadata" folder concept is good from a single workspace standpoint, but these registries are:
> 1) at risk of being deleted if workspace is cleared
> 2) registry data (i.e. files) are not available/exposed for proper version control
> So a solution might be to create the concept of a Global Workspace Location. This location would be set by the user if they choose. This location would contain folders for Teiid Server, Model Extension, Translator Overrides, Connection Profiles such that if a user changes workspaces they wouldn't necessarily have to re-import all of this data.
> Maybe provide a "Global Workspace Explorer" view that would have some features/actions to do some appropriate management of the artifacts.
> This would be a Usability

[JBoss JIRA] (TEIIDDES-2383) Transformation editor removes cache hint in SQL
by Barry LaFond (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/TEIIDDES-2383?page=com.atlassian.jira.plu... ]
Barry LaFond commented on TEIIDDES-2383:
----------------------------------------
[~shawkins] Looking at your doc on hints (https://docs.jboss.org/author/display/TEIID/Hints+and+Options) it appears that the hint needs to be constructed/set-up in a certain way. This page doesn't provide a concrete/simple example to test, however, I did find a QueryNode in your RealMetadataFactory test. Is this a valid format/case?
* QueryNode vTrans4 = new QueryNode("/*+ cache(ttl:100) */ SELECT x FROM matsrc");
I did debug a little in Designer using something similar:
* /*+ cache(ttl:180000)*/ SELECT * FROM ProductsMySQL.product_info
The first thing our TransformationValidator does, of course, is parse the SQL and get a Command. But in determining the command it throws away the prepended cache hint. Designer transformation query/UI framework utilizes this *command* in managing the actual SQL, so it's actually lost.
Any ideas on how to proceed?

[JBoss JIRA] (TEIIDDES-2385) Error when generating SOAP WAR with WS-Security
by Barry LaFond (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/TEIIDDES-2385?page=com.atlassian.jira.plu... ]
Barry LaFond commented on TEIIDDES-2385:
----------------------------------------
The actual compile error is:
{code}
UsernamePasswordCallback.java:22: error: cannot find symbol
if (!("foo".equals(pc.getIdentifier()) && "bar".equals(pc //$NON-NLS-1$ //$NON-NLS-2$
^
symbol: method getIdentifier()
location: variable pc of type org.apache.ws.security.WSPasswordCallback
{code}
I replaced the *war_resources/webapps/WEB-INF/lib/wss4j.jar* with a newer jar: *wss4j-1.6.1.jar* and the wizard continued and was successful.
