> "integer" maps to "xs:biginteger"
> "int" maps "xs:long"
> How they are confusing when there is already one available for biginteger. Also the Table creation wizard does not provide option to to select "int". When user chooses "integer" it often is "int".
> This confusion needs to be resolved. IMO "integer" can be removed, however I am not sure how it effects data type system

Van Halbert commented on TEIIDDES-2256:

I like the new 3 column layout. But would it make sense to order them: runtime -> Design time --> base type
and sort them by runtime.
Because the user is trying to match, based on what the runtime type is from the import, to see all the options that are suggested to use based on that runtime type. By displaying by design type, the user has to scroll thru all the runtime types to find all the possibilities.

Does it makes more sense to remove the *namespace" from the Base Type labels? and maybe add a 3rd column called "Root Type"
So table would have 3 columns, *Design Time Type* | *Runtime Type* | *Root Type*

Andrej Šmigala commented on TEIIDDES-2256:
------------------------------------------
Another confusing thing about the way the dialog presents the types is that for instance "short : xs:int" means that short is a _subset_ of xs:int. I initially thought it means either an alias or the runtime datatype.

Ramesh Reddy commented on TEIIDDES-2256:

That is better when user is manually assigning it, not when it automatically assigned during the import using the Teiid Connection Importer. Will there be an issue renaming
integer --> biginteger
and then creating a alias to int --> integer?

Attachment: set-datatype-dialog.png
Screen cap of Set Datatype dialog changes include
* second column showing *Runtime Type*
* set hint on length spinner widget so it will show enough digits.
If user is searching for *integer* they'll see that it maps to *biginteger* and hopefully select *int* instead.
