JBDS/JBT is still heavily invested in Data Tools/CP. Max is aware of it and sees the need to create a higher level abstraction/management of connection info. We're started work on pulling together data representing the various components for connection info in Designer. There are, of course, numerous different types of connection info required for the myriad of data sources. Providing a common framework to handle this info in the tooling is not an easy task, especially if we're trying to maintain a decent level of usability.
