Van Halbert commented on TEIIDDES-1285:
---------------------------------------
I asked the question: From a execution perspective, is there any reason to use one over
the other?
And the Teiid engineer (Steve) said: No. The index metadata doesn't even convey that
there is a difference.
For 8.x, I think would be a good time to remove the "View" table and rename the
"Base Table" to the View, and get this cleaned up. I say rename the "Base
Table" because it supports modeling keys and the metadata is useful for those that
wish to track it. Who knows, maybe some day we'll update the transformation builder
to automatically add in the WHERE clause when there are foreign keys defined (and other
uses).
Deprecate and remove the ability to create a "View" table,
because the "base table" does the job and it supports foreign keys

Key: TEIIDDES-1285
URL:
https://issues.jboss.org/browse/TEIIDDES-1285
Project: Teiid Designer
Issue Type: Enhancement
Components: Modeling
Affects Versions: 7.7.1
Reporter: Van Halbert
The creation of a "View" table is not really useful. This is because the
"Base Table" represents the same thing and it also supports foreign keys.
Something the "View" table doesn't support.
