There are some legacy metamodel definitions in Teiid Designer (TABLE and VIEW) in source models that when deployed to the server, are treated as TABLES. So in Designer, the difference is just at design-time. New Teiid Tooling is now adapting to the DDL and VDB.XML metadata formats and CREATE VIEW only represents a virtual construct, where CREATE FOREIGN TABLE/PROCEDURE/FUNCTION are the only source-related schema objects.
