Temporary tables are dynamic, but session scoped thus there are no cluster worries. Also we support only a limited add/drop of just tables. Allowing full metadata updates is significantly more work and requires more metadata validation logic that we current have, but that's the direction we're heading. The recent DDL metadata changes have moved us much closer. It wouldn't be unreasonable to just allow create operations and tie in the updates to the metadata repository facility.
