JDK6 is extra old and EOL for more then year now...
Heck, JDK7 is planned to be EOL in March 2015

Plus, if you stay on JDK6, the step to JDK8 will be even bigger and probably further away. And I guess a lot of people really want to upgrade to JDK8 and take advantage of its features.
