Linking PRs to 2.3 and master branch.

Created a profile in core/pom.xml which will be auto-triggered on windows and makes sure the test is excluded.
Furthermore I added a note to docs mentioning the auto registered shutdown hook plus the option to modify this along with a warning about inconsistent behaviour on different OS.
