Thanks for your feedback. I am also not happy with this quick-fix. On the other hand I have no clue what else I can do in this situation.

For your better understanding of the issue, I have attached file WeldTestEAR.ear. Basically it consists of an EAR project and two web-projects. JSP-file WeldTestWeb1/WebContent/index.jsp includes WeldTestWeb2/WebContent/index.jsp. Furthermore CDI and security-constraints are enabled. If you deploy the EAR and call http://localhost:8080/WeldTestWeb1/ you will see the same NPE as in the asynchron context. So hopefully a solution for both issues will be released soon.
