Lenny, we would like to support rolling upgrades in Weld. However, this would require a modification in the core module and so we must be sure that:

• it does not break anything
• it will be also usable for other environments (not only Payara)
• it will be properly defined - either we define a new SPI or at least we'll make it configurable

I'm going to close your pull request and send a new one based on it once we have a better idea of implementation details.
