first thing when I see this - the class declaring your bean (SomeFactory) does not have a bean defining annotation.
Therefore with bean-discovery-mode="annotated" it won't get picked up at all and the producer will not be found.

As for spec text - it does not seem to define what exactly happens if you give it no scope. But I'll keep digging.
