Benjamin Graf I've sent a question to a cdi-dev mailing list (http://lists.jboss.org/pipermail/cdi-dev/2014-April/005034.html). It seems the spec will be clarified, i.e. the current implementation is correct. In any case the Hibernate Validator extension should be fixed/improved - I will create a new HV issue.
