I've been bitten by this issue too, using Weld 3.0.4 and Hibernate 5.3.1.

I'm afraid I'm a CDI newbie so I can't understand the proper way to get this fixed,
but I would like to be able to get rid of the workaround and have this work out of the box.

Any chance for a Weld dev to ask the CDI EG for feedback?
