I think you could be somewhat fine also with WildFly 8 beta1 and up but there are things that wont work properly, JSP compiling comes to mind.
Also EAP 6.2 somewhat works, also with limitations.
EAP 6.3 is/will be fine.

8.0.0 and later.

There's no plan at this point to have a release require Java 8. I'm sure
at some point we will, maybe WF 10. It's theoretically possible for WF 9
but IMO very improbably and I'm sure there'd be some discussion on this
list first.
