I would say getAnnotatedElement() would be a better choice, so you would just return the AnnotatedMethod for a producer method bean. I think that you would also have to allow it to return null, if the bean is question is a custom or builtin bean. 

I don't feel particularly strongly about this one, but I think there are possible use cases.
