The removal of the authentication challenge is fine.  As Brian points out, this isn't really the appropriate place to be showing off that we do indeed use JAAS, and it's not possible to run the example and get beyond this challenge without reading the manual first.

Patch looks good.  Go ahead and apply the patch, but leave this issue open and I'll update the images.
