The alerting feature may be implemented via the JBoss Operations Network OR the web-console (http://localhost:8080/web-console). In the case of the web-console this task is a simple as following the instructions in the JBoss AS Admin Guide.  The web-console provides support for alerting (normally to the log but also via email).
