There are two folders of interest here (default names, can be changed in the project wizard by user): esbcontent and src.

The src folder (or, more precisely, any folders set as source folders in the Java project) provide the classes for the ESB archive.

The esbcontent folder has everything except the Java classes, in a structure that mirrors the archive layout. (So jboss-esb.xml is in the esbcontent/meta-inf folder).
