From ggastald at redhat.com Thu Dec 3 11:18:36 2015 From: ggastald at redhat.com (George Gastaldi) Date: Thu, 3 Dec 2015 14:18:36 -0200 Subject: [forge-dev] Forge/core branch changes Message-ID: Hello, The following changes in http://github.com/forge/core were performed: - The master branch has been rebased with the 3.x branch. - The branches 1.x, 2.x and 3.x were removed. All future work will happen in master branch. Forge 2 is now frozen for new features. The Netbeans and IntelliJ plugins are already using Forge 3.0.0.Alpha2. The Eclipse plugin will be updated soon. My concern is that, since Forge 3 changes the option names to a unix-like style (eg: --target-class instead of --targetClass), existing scripts may break and also documentation should be updated to reflect this change. Let me know if you have any questions, Best Regards, -- *George Gastaldi* https://about.me/gastaldi -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Are you gonna try push your upstream changes back to fabric8 too so we don?t have 2 forks? :) FWIW lots of changes have been made lately in the fabric8 forge REST service as we need to be able to support running of forge commands via a web console on lots of different git repos with different user secrets; so the REST API changed a reasonable amount lately to support user defined secrets (HTTP user/pwd or SSH keys) so that forge can operate on different git repos etc. e.g. right now you can use the fabric8 console with JBoss Forge to edit and run commands on your github, bitbucket, Stash and on premise Gogs / GitLab repos; all from the same console. If not using the secrets / git directly; I can see something like this being useful embedded into a web IDE where each user has their own local clone of source code on a persistent volume in a remote docker container which they then manage the git commit separately; but thats a bit harder & it looks like a real multi-user version of Che is a good few months away. > On 7 Dec 2015, at 15:34, George Gastaldi wrote: > > This is a separate work but based on the Fabric8 REST codebase. > The main idea is to bring the existing Fabric8 integration to the Forge organization, so different projects can adapt it as needed. > > On Mon, Dec 7, 2015 at 1:28 PM, Matthias Wessendorf > wrote: > sweet! > > I saw recently a web-based Forge wizard, in one of the Fabric8 demo videos. > Is this the same one? (gastaldi, 15:29:52) * Forge 3.0.0.Final should be out in February 15th (gastaldi, 15:31:31) * Forge REST service (gastaldi, 15:45:44) * As I mentioned in the previous topic, I am working on migrating the REST service to the Forge repository. I created a sample AngularJS app to show that working: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Rms5q09beM (gastaldi, 15:46:38) * Still working on the SPI interfaces and migration (gastaldi, 15:47:40) Meeting ended at 15:50:13 UTC. I started my work on it a couple of weeks ago, developing against Forge 2. But after Forge 3 was moved to master, I changed my addon accordingly. Unfortunately, now after I build and install it, it doesn't work anymore. I mean, the command testing-setup is not available neither in the IDE, nor in the shell. Most probably I am missing some dependencies, I don't know. But it was working fine while built against Forge 2. Here is the Forge Core code together with my addon: https://github.com/ivannov/core/tree/FORGE-2545 The addon itself is here: https://github.com/ivannov/core/tree/FORGE-2545/testing i will be very happy if you point me to what I am doing wrong :) Thanks, Ivan -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
