Hey Pushpitha,
you should reach out to the prospective mentor and talk
with them. They can give you the resources. Also it
will be good if you can demonstrate some working
skills by e.g. supplying a small patch.
In the end you need to write a proposal (with the help
of the mentor) that needs to be strong enough to be
considered.
