Again we are lucky; it just happens to work for us. I listed a
not-very unusual scenario where -proc:only breaks.

"Cleaner" how? Have you seen the hoops we jump through to get this to
work? Not trying to be argumentative, just that I don't see the
benefit "compile but don't really compile" buys us.
