In fact my translation of
validator.notNull=får inte vara tomt
means "may not be empty"
The problem is we have no common word for null in Swedish. If we need to distinguish between them I recommend the following
validator.notNull=får inte vara null
validator.notEmpty=får inte vara null eller tomt
But, I think what makes most sense would be to use
validator.notNull=får inte vara tomt
validator.notEmpty=får inte vara tomt
