Maven 2 is not maven 1.
The most voted on issue for spring is m2 support and they 'll do it for spring 2.1, while several of their subprojects already do.
Please reconsider your point on m2 or leave an issue like this open, so people can at least vote for it  and give you an idea of how many users want it.
