I've read again that Hibernate "requires 40 JARs" and that the fantastic Oracle reference implementation does not. This nonsense can only be stopped by splitting the lib/ subdirectory of our distribution into /lib/required, lib/optional, and lib/buildtime. Consider for 3.3.
