But the exception isn't clear. He obviously wouldn't have taken the time to post here if it was clear.
It's not clear to me either.

The exception doesn't say anything about what that means. It doesn't say anything about what to do if an AnnotationConfiguration is being used. It doesn't say anything about why an AnnotationConfiguration is required.
