I have fixed the equivalent issue in NHibernate (http://jira.nhibernate.org/browse/NH-364).  Seeing that the feature is rather useful and it is a relatively easy fix, I have ported the changes back to H3.  Unfortunately, I do not have a proper environment set up for compiling and running the tests for H3.  Perhaps someone can take the attached patch file, test it, and integrate it.  Thanks.
