Hibernate advertises "persistence by reachability". 

The current case covers *very* simple topologies (a 3 nodes graph) where a node is reachable (admittedly not via the shortest path in the graph), but a TransientObjectException is triggered by an attempt to persist.

I don't believe it's an issue of documentation. It's an issue of fixing a fundamental requirement.
