I double checked and there is a test to cover that in the unit test suite (HAN xml.ejb3.Ejb3XmlTest.testEjb3Xml in conjunction with it's associated orm.xml

can you try with the latest version of Hibernate annotations and EM (you're using CR versions apparently). reopen it if you can still reproduce.
