I have a first cut of the proposed solution. It works, but still feels quite shaky. For example, how should @AnalyzerDiscriminator work in connection with @IndexedEmbedded? Specifically, how do we cope with the fact that the field names passed to the discriminator might contain a prefix. Is this something we just leave up to the implementation?

I am not happy to commit the changes yet. Instead I attached a patch (HSEARCH-221.patch) which applies on the current trunk. Happy to get some feedback.
