Well, I actually did think of splitting out the Hibernate Search specific annotations, the same is done for hibernate itself...

hibernate-annotations

And I thought that 

hibernate-search-annotations

would be in the line of that.


But you are right, there are other solutions to avoid the dependencies .... I was just thinking in the line of core hibernate and it's seperate annotations jar.
I intended excluding them if my proposition was not accepted...
