For me as a hibernate user this clearly a bug, which can render transactions strategy useless.  i really don't what to go in details and i as a user really don't care that much about the spec, but what it basically it boils to is that you cannot use FlushMode.MANUAL, until either the specification is clearer, or the bug is fixed. Also i would really rename iti: AutoFlush.MANUAL_BUT_IN_CASES_AUTO.
