Did you also try "in"? I guess the error is in that cause only.
E.g. "... x in :x" and query.setParameterList(ids).

What happens with -Xss64k? This should reduce the stack size per thread, at least for Sun JDK, Windows and Linux.
Please refer to the JVM doc for the stack size and reduce it to 64k or at least 128k.
