Steve Ebersole commented on HHH-3701:
-------------------------------------

I've gone ahead and committed the function changes needed to support trim on sybase into trunk, 3.3 and 3.2.

Gail, when you are done refactoring the Sybase dialects there is a one-line change you will need to make to have those dialects use this properly. For trim function registration you'll need a line like this:

registerFunction( "trim", new AnsiTrimEmulationFunction( AnsiTrimEmulationFunction.LTRIM, AnsiTrimEmulationFunction.RTRIM, "str_replace" ) );

the current sybase dialect has:
registerFunction( "trim", new SQLFunctionTemplate( Hibernate.STRING, "ltrim(rtrim(?1))") );

> The current AnsiTrimEmulationFunction doesn't handles the "replace" function properly for Sybase, as it should use "str_replace" instead of "replace", so, AnsiTrimEmulationFunction needs to be aware of this, or a new class based on it should be developed.
