Hi Steve.  How can it not be a bug that the LazyInitializationException is thrown when navigating assocations on an entity that is attached to a Session?  If that's really not a bug, then I am seriously misunderstanding the issue and that explains why I am not good enough to submit a patch for it!

Regarding your frustrations, I do understand how you feel that way, and it is surprising that nobody has contributed a patch in all this time.  We all benefit from open source software, but even submitting bug reports and helping out on the forums is a contribution that benefits the whole community, and this is something that many of us do, without digging deeply into the code base.  Surely an issue like this is best managed by people who are famliar with the code base and presumably people within JBoss.
