Sure, you have a valid point and I agree.  Let me take a different approach to getting what I want, perhaps changing the type of this issue from a defect to a feature request.  Again, I don't see how to do that with JIRA here.

Here's the feature I'd like.  

Allow licensees to customize the product name string that appears in the log output.  

Again, I can provide a patch if you like.
