An @Url constraint makes sense. I guess we really should add it to the 4.x version of Hibernate Validator. That said, the code should easily be backportable in case we also want it in the 3.x legacy code base.

There could be options to allow for mailto: and others, to make it stronger or looser as needed by the application. However, a basic one would be a great addition to the library as lots and lots of users will need this to be sure.
