If we use @NumericField then it's plural annotation will be @NumericFields, not @Fields. 

I'd be more inclined to try on users the @NumericField.forField approach first as it is the most visible. If we see complaints, then we can go back to the other scheme which is more subtle and thus invidious wrt to it's drawbacks ;)
