When given a table like this (simplified example): 

CREATE
  TABLE "MYSCHEMA"."MYTABLE"
  (
    "MYID"    NUMBER NOT NULL ENABLE,
    "CTYPE"  VARCHAR2(50 BYTE),
  );
  COMMENT ON COLUMN "MYSCHEMA"."MYTABLE"."CTYPE"
IS
  'Something something enumeration: <home_phone, work_phone, cell_phone, fax, email>';

hbm2hbmxml will generate the following mapping file (excerpt):

    <property
        name="ctype"
        type="string"
    >
<column name="CTYPE" length="50" >
<comment>Something something enumeration: <home_phone, work_phone, cell_phone, fax, email>
</comment>
</column>  </property>

This file is not valid xml and will cause errors when loaded by hibernate.
hbm2hbmxml should escape comment text, replacing < with &lt; etc
