Shawn, thanks for the example code. Briefly, if you have a problem calling save()/saveOrUpdate() before adding your objects, then maybe you should be managing the keys instead of letting Hibernate manage them. I'd be happy to continue this discussion off-JIRA, as this is a bit off topic. Please respond directly to my email.
