That could be a later enhancement, though, right? Or is this something

Ah, good point. This is where the analogue to JBC breaks down; the JBC
CacheManager shares nothing across Cache instances; the Infinispan
CacheManager is more like a JBC Cache with a nice API for
configuring/managing Regions.
Complex environments like the AS may need to deploy/manage multiple
CacheManagers to support multiple Channels. Although JGroups ergonomics
improvements may eliminate the primary requirement for that.
