2. I probably agree with you on NOT including the coherence .dtd.  
Maybe you can move (2) to a subtask,as a documentation task for the user's guide. The problem is that the latest coherence, 3.5.x (since it was bought by Oracle) does not have
(that I know of) a URL for its .dtd (as older versions did), so the .dtd is needed in the classpath.
