Not sure I understand the meaning of this JIRA. We agreed that you might need to load before storing in order to get previous value, don't you?
If there's any loading to be done, this is done by CacheLoaderInterceptor, so I don't understand what your point is about CacheStore.store() returning the previous value. It shouldn't be left down to CacheStore impls to return previous values.
