[~rvansa] The recent changes on the server solve the "Hot Rod decoder is currently tying up Netty threads as a result of calling up to Infinispan sync operations", that's why I closed it.
But you are right, it's not using cache async ops, I'll reopen it and let [~galder.zamarreno] and [~rpwburns] comment on it
