For Hibernate > 5.1, this issue seems to be fixed. Now sync invalidation commands are sent with ResponseMode.SYNCHRONOUS_IGNORE_LEAVERS (org.hibernate.cache.infinispan.access.BaseInvalidationInterceptor:50) .
CacheNotFoundResponse is ignored when this mode is used.
