Brian, I'm not sure if I'm speaking the obvious here..
I wouldn't say core is a separate module from JMS. Our JMS is a thin wrapper in top of core.
In AS7 terms, I would call the module as HornetQ. The HornetQ Core API is proprietary to HornetQ so I don't see a reason to find a generic name.
I'm not sure from the discussion bellow if pihuhn understood that a core-queue and a topic-subscription are internally the same thing. (just a mapping of the JMS wrapper into the core-API).
