agreed, I should have asked if it was on HEAD

could it be that you forgot a JbpmContext.close() somewhere? Not sure if that causes these symptoms, just a wild guess. 

Maybe you can try to make a threaddump (search google how to do that) maybe that way we can see where this connectionleakage takes place.
