I still don't understand your position on interceptors, what are the issues beside the flexibility it offers ?

The benefit is that all operations of PortletInvoker can be interceptor whereas today only action/render can be.`

But it's not very interception, it's more a pipeline. Real interception only happens on POJOs... So there is a bit of debate here.

In tomcat/jetspeed 2 it is called Valve.

If someone can propose a sexy name...
